Dr. Essence O. Rivers is a licensed clinical psychologist and director of psychological services at Customized Behavioral Healthcare. With a Master’s and Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University and specialized training with the Palm Beach County Youth Services Department, Dr. Essence takes a systemic approach to promote mental health and wellbeing for individuals and families. As a multiracial and neurodivergent psychologist, she brings both clinical knowledge and lived experience to each session. Dr. Essence offers a variety of services for all ages, including coping, communication, problem-solving skills, and specializes in complex trauma, ADHD, anxiety, family conflict, boundaries, racial identity, and parenting. Dr. Essence is an LGBTQ+ affirming provider, dedicated to facilitating healing and resilience through knowledge sharing, connection, self-reflection, and new skills. Dr. Essence also specializes in working with black women who have ADHD. She understands the unique challenges that black women with ADHD face, including the stigma and cultural barriers that can prevent them from seeking treatment. Dr. Essence provides a safe and supportive environment for black women to explore their experiences and develop coping strategies to overcome these challenges. Her goal is to empower her clients to live fulfilling and successful lives by embracing their strengths and finding solutions that work for them.
